A Little Secret!

Sooo...
Whilst a bit of blog re-decorating is going on,
I've been shouting to the rooftops about a little secret I've been sitting on for 12 weeks...

Eeeey!
Me and Lewis are so excited!
I know we're still early days, and you're never truly in 'the safe zone', but just getting past these 12 weeks is an amazing feeling!

We went for our first scan last week and by gum, it moves SO much!
I'd been reading up about how big it was getting with each week, and just had in mind a little growing mass of cells, and then this little lovely is presented to us on the ultrasound screen.
Moving around as if someone's tickling it all over.
And the nose! It's little nose!
And hands and feet and mouth... I'm pretty certain I spent most of the scan just gaping at this amazing little creature who has grown so much without me even knowing it!

It's been quite an adventure so far, and it's going to get so much more adventurous!
I'm so excited, but I'll admit, a little terrified too.
This is so new!
So if there is anyone out there with future mum/pregnancy advice, feel free to pass on some wisdom!

I'm sure there will be lots of random pregnancy 'Oh my god, this happened' posts in the future, so I'll keep you updated!

I hope that you all had a lovely weekend

A Lick Of Paint

Do you know that feeling when you've just cleaned your room or your working area
and you suddenly feel so inspired to create something awesome?

That's what I'm craving at the moment!

So as part of my new blog dedication plan
I'm going to give my little page a lick of paint!
or a digital one at least.

I've had this wonderful place to ramble and shout about all sorts of things for about 2 years now!
And I think it's about time I gave it a little spruce up!

So, where to start?

~ Research

These are a few blogs which I have just fallen in love with!

The colours and layouts of these blogs all work with their character and what they're about.
Everything just sort of comes together to really give you an idea of the person behind the blog.
The pages are bright and easy to navigate round,
and there's lots to read and snoop through.
The subjects are interesting, and the posts have a really inviting, physical quality.

So, my next plan of action folks,
is to turn this wonderful little space into something
ME

I'm going to turn to my trusty Inkling to help me out too.

If you'd like to know more about the awesomeness that is the Inkling, I wrote a little about it here

I'm not sure how long the makeover will take, and it will probably happen in stages rather than all at once, but hopefully you'll be seeing some changes soon!

Let me know what you think!

And if you have any blogs that you absolutely adore let me know.
I love finding new blogs to oogle at!

Blogging...

Hmm, a blog post about blogging..
Why not!
:)

It has been an absolute age since I last blogged, and even longer since I've really been into blogging.
I love the idea of keeping a regular blog, and really getting into some wonderful topics that I find interesting and that I think other people would find interesting too.

It's been so easy to conjure up little excuses to put blogging off, or to 'leave it until tomorrow'.

~  I've been moving house
I still don't have a proper camera to capture some wonderful photographs to decorate my blog with.
(still holding out for a Nikon D3100)
~  I haven't being going on any wonderful adventures to write about
~  and I certainly don't have a beautiful wardrobe of clothes to do beautiful outfit posts!

But then I take a proper look at the blogs that I love and the ones who really inspire me to get creative or try something new, and they're just people, and all different!
We are who we are. We're not a breed of bloggers who are all the same and do all the same things, that's not what blogging's about.
This is kind of like a diary, letting the world into your little life and hopefully sharing some wonderful things that might inspire someone else one day.

So wonderful people...
I'm going to really try and put some effort into my little blog.

This is me.
And this is the world of
Rebecca's Emporium

Welcome!

Wednesday

Hello little world!
How are you this fine, fair day?

Things have been all 'go go go!'
over here in my Emporium.

I've got a few more Pheeples on the go, more jewellery AND I have ventured into the world of
wet felting!

Now, me and wet felting have never really got on...
I'd only ever tried wet felting small balls for beads (which I could NEVER do!)
And It's been one of those "I can get more detail when I'm needle felting, so why would I want to try wet felting?"
haha, how wrong I have been!
And I would like to take this moment to apologise to all of you lovely wet felters out there!
It's tough stuff!!

I've only been working from tutorials online, but I'm booking myself into a class next month
and fingers crossed I will be able to create some beautiful pieces
with this lovely, and very tactile process!

:)

and these are a few of my little, very simple, creations!

A few egg cosies and some random shapes, and yes, that is a VERY rough, and not so great shoe in the background!
lol

I can't wait to get the hang of this properly!

*Dreaming of a giant Pheeple*

I'll keep you posted how I go,
and there will be a new
Spring time/Mother's Day Pheeple
wall art piece coming soon!

She's based on my Inkling drawing
so I hope you'll like her!

:)

I hope you're all having a wonderful day you lovely people!

More Inkling-ness

I've been playing around with my
Inkling this evening,

and I have my first proper Inkling sketch of my next Pheeple Wall Art Sculpture design
using Photoshop to
edit it.

I hope you like her!

I think I might be a little bit more in love with the Inkling than I was before.

:)

If you would like to read a bit more about the Inkling
take a little read of my post here!

I hope you're all having a lovely weekend!

Make The Little Things Fun!

Today,
one of those random little events that sparks something inspiring in your brain
happened.

:)

My little felt mouse ring was included in a lovely treasury on Etsy:

Have Some Fun

and the way the curator (SewHappyGirls) had described how everyday life should be fun too,
and how every day should be a happy one
It just made my brain spark!

:)

My intention has always been to create a little smile with my work.
I see all those grumpy people on the train to and from work
and I just want to see them all grinning away!
A happy face is much better than a sad face!

That's why I make fun little jewellery pieces and easy to hang wall art pieces.

I love typing away on my laptop and seeing the felt mouse sat on my finger, bouncing away with each tap.
It's as if he's typing too!

Simple little things and simple little moments that make us smile.
They're SO important!

Part of my New Years resolution this year is to appreciate the little things more,
and why not make those little things FUN!

Make The Little Things Fun

- That's my new motto!

I hope you're all having a wonderful day
full of lots of little, fun moments!

Having An Inkling

This post is way overdue I know,
but
today is all about my oober lovely

After craving for one of these for months and months,
Santa decided I had been good enough to get one for Xmas!

:)

I'd thought about the IPad and other drawing tools for the computer, but when I saw a little tutorial for the Inkling
it was love at first sight!
It just completely suited my sketchy style.
I'm afraid I find it impossible to draw just ONE line in any of my sketches!
There must be many to create a line!
:)

This wonderful little device captures so much detail, it's just perfect!

It's very compact and fits in my bag so I can take it on the train with me on my adventures,
and it charges through a USB cord to your computer AND it comes with extra ink cartridges for the pen!
:)

I am so pleased with this little gismo!
And all you do once you've sketched your doodle, is plug it in to your computer and open your sketches up in Photoshop or Illustrator (or whatever programme you have) and you can edit away!

So... if you've popped over to my website recently....? :)
You might have noticed some doodly changes!

It's been great for turning my website into something more personal.
My writing heads each page, and just like when I work on paper, there's little doodles and pictures around my work.

I haven't put any proper sketches on there yet.
That is the one thing with the Inkling, whilst it is super amazing, you might have to 'learn how to draw with it' if that makes any sense?

The pen has a sensor on it that the clip picks up, and because I'm so sketchy with my drawings, I often go over things a few times.
And sometimes the alignment of the pen and the clip aren't 100% bang on.
There are only small differences, but one time I was drawing a Pheeple, he ended up with 3 eyes instead of 2 because I'd gone back to go over it and the pen hadn't aligned to the exact spot!

So I'm practising now, practising not going back over my work.
Work on each bit, one at a time, and move on to the next.
:)

Once I've got that sorted you can see some Pheeple doodles!

But the Inkling is definitely something that I would recommend!
Oh, and and you can save layers with it!
There's a little button on the clip, and when you click it, it starts a new layer!
How fantastic is that!

Let me know if you have an Inkling, I'd love to hear your Inkling stories!

:)
